How to play Studio Tycoon

Studio Tycoon puts you in charge of a Hollywood studio. You have $150 million and six big decisions to make before your movie hits theaters.

  1. Pick a genre — action, romance, comedy, horror, sports, thriller or family adventure.
  2. Cast your lead, from an A-list superstar to an unknown Broadway actor.
  3. Hire a director, sort out the soundtrack and choose your locations.
  4. Pick a release date — Thanksgiving, summer blockbuster season, Christmas, a quiet weekend, or straight to streaming.
  5. Name your movie and release it!

Whatever money you don't spend goes into marketing. Some combinations work much better than others (romance loves a chart-topping soundtrack, thrillers love an indie festival darling), and a little luck — a viral song, a leak, a box-office clash — can change everything. You get a box office report with the opening day, weekend, lifetime gross and the final verdict, from Disaster to All-Time Blockbuster.
